Banking Verification

Last updated: May 2026

To settle deposits and withdrawals over SEPA and SWIFT, BELEM must confirm that any bank account linked to your profile is held in your own name (or the name of the verified legal entity). This protects you from third-party payment fraud and satisfies our obligations under the Travel Rule and beneficial-ownership transparency requirements.

1. What you will need

  • The full IBAN or account number and BIC/SWIFT of the account.
  • The name and address of the account holder, exactly as it appears at the bank.
  • A recent bank statement (PDF, dated within 90 days) or a confirmation-of-account letter signed by the bank.

2. Verification flow

  1. Log in to your BELEM dashboard and open Banking → Add account.
  2. Enter the account details. BELEM will generate a secure upload link, which you may also forward directly to your bank's compliance officer so they can send the confirmation letter to us.
  3. Where supported, BELEM may also issue a micro-deposit of less than €1, including a reference code you must enter in the dashboard to confirm control of the account.
  4. Once verified, the account becomes available for settlement. Verification typically completes within 1–2 business days of receiving the documents.

3. Accepted institutions

BELEM accepts accounts held at regulated banks and licensed e-money institutions in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Canada, and select FATF-compliant jurisdictions. We do not accept accounts held at unlicensed payment processors, accounts opened in the name of nominees, or accounts in jurisdictions appearing on the FATF "increased monitoring" list.

4. Third-party payments

BELEM does not process deposits or withdrawals to or from a bank account that is not registered in your verified name. Any incoming third-party transfer will be returned to the originator, net of bank fees, and may trigger a review of your account.

5. Changes and revocation

You may add or revoke linked accounts at any time from the dashboard. Removing an account does not delete the underlying transaction history, which is retained for the statutory period of five years after the last settlement.

6. Disclaimers

Settlement times, fees, and exchange rates are governed by the rails of your bank and the intermediary correspondent bank. BELEM is not responsible for delays, rejections, or charges imposed by third-party banks. All bank instructions must be issued from your verified account only — instructions from any other source will be disregarded.
